Action Against Hunger (ACF) was founded by a group of prominent French figures in response to the emergency caused by Afghan refugees fleeing to Pakistan to escape fighting in 1979, with the aim of eradicating hunger in a more global, lasting and effective way worldwide. The organisation focuses its activities on an integrated approach, taking various aspects into account: “Nutrition, health and healthcare practices”, “Food security and livelihoods”, “Water, sanitation and hygiene” and “Advocacy and awareness-raising”: In 2011, ACF-International was active in over 45 countries, coming to the aid of around 6 million individuals. By integrating our programmes with regional and national systems, ACF is ensuring that short-term actions are becoming long-term solutions. http://www.actioncontrelafaim.org/ We are looking for: A REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE MIDDLE EAST Based in: Amman – JORDAN Incorporation date: 12 months, starting in beginning of September Objective and Responsibilities: Coordinate, support and guide the organization, in order to optimize and scale up, impact and coverage of ACF interventions. Following ACF mandate, develop and coordinate a regional approach and regional initiatives between ACF missions and the different HQs involved. You will be in charge of: - Development of regional strategic approaches and strategies in line with ACF mandate and the current crisis - Representation, positioning and Networking - Expansion / Growth – scale up - Ensure the security of the possible team members, support and coordinate possible HR and training needs/activities in the region, participate when requested in regional exploratory missions Profile: - Bachelors or master degree in political science, business administration or similar background/or equivalent experience as country Director or Desk Officer. Specific studies in humanitarian aid and/or development - Good knowledge of strategic planning, representation and coordination - Knowledge of ACF operations, policies and procedures - Demonstrated experience in working in Middle East region in humanitarian aid. Strong geopolitical analysis - 5 or more years with coordination experience. Three or more years management experience as Country Director with ACF strongly preferred - Desirable: Experience in negotiation with donors and key stakeholders of different nature (government officials, other organisations…) - English fluency, Arabic, French and Spanish appreciated - Frequent travel Status: - Average yearly gross income: from 1800€ to 2825€ - 25 days of annual paid leaves and 20 days of R & R per year (taken as recovery time breaks of one week every 2 or 4 months depending on the mission) - Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance provided by the institution - Accompanied position (partner, children) according to the place of assignment - Training before departure and all along the career with Action Contre la Faim.
