Select Auto is a part of Al Futtaim Automotive Group. This company will cater to the regional requirements of NATO Forces and their Prime Contractors for supply of heavy equipment vehicles and their maintenance services. Select will be the single point of contact for customers of this profile and will operate as an internal customer for the other automotive group companies
The BD Manager – In Country is responsible for creating and maintaining a viable sales funnel within selected markets which, when bid and won, would enable Select Auto to meet (and, as a stretch target, exceed) its assumed revenue targets.
Reports to: GM Commercial
Locations: Kandahar Air Field (KAF) & Camp Bastion (BSN), Afghanistan
Financial Dimensions: Responsibility for operating within delegated budget.
Description of the Accountability:
 Business Development:
  • Develop BD strategy for a nominated market within allocated budget, registering as necessary with potential clients
  • Maintain an effective pipeline of potential contracts through personal contact, research on websites, research through publications, and attendance as appropriate at market specific Industry Days
  • Recommend to GM Commercial which contracts to pursue
  • Lead on bid pre-qualification (after  Select Auto Senior Management decision on ‘go/no go’)
  • After down-select, assist as required and tasked with the bid submission process
  • Where appropriate, assist in devising and deliver an effective marketing strategy across specified markets.
  • Ensure appropriate liaison with Operations to hand over wins
  • Advise on potential opportunities for merger and acquisition
 Customer Liaison:
  • In conjunction with Ops personnel, maintain regular positive and proactive engagement with external customers
  • Attend regular meeting and cross pollination forums to ensure customers are fully supported and briefed on all operational activities
  • Represent the company at senior levels within the customer base to ensure the image of Select Auto and Al Futtaim Group is maintained and enhanced as an aid to achieving sales targets
Performance Indicators (How accountability is measured):
  • BD Strategy approved by GM Commercial every quarter
  • Pipeline value of 10 times annual target for ‘wins’ 
  • Fortnightly prospect review with GM Commercial
  • Pre-qualify for at least 50% of ‘go’ submissions
  • Monthly subjective assessment by GM Commercial
  • Report as required (no specific target)
